About the Bar

Nestled amongst the 100 yr old live oak trees in the harbor town of Southport NC is the oldest standing bar in town, The Tiki Tavern. Opening in 1977 as the Sand Bar then renamed Skippers in the early 80’s, The Tiki Tavern has been in business for 4 years owned by Jerry (Lightning) and Deanna Rivenbark.

If you are looking for a relaxing drink in the afternoons or a big time listening to our many bands on Friday or Saturday night, this is your drinking hole. If you want to enjoy an outdoor drink you can sit on our patio and enjoy the music outside.. As a club we offer free hotdogs with great chili all day long our South Carolina chili can’t be topped. Don’t let the “club” denomination scare you away. Membership is immediate with a legal ID and one dollar. That covers you for a year. NC alcohol laws require this.. And if you are a music aficionado you will enjoy our Wednesday evening open Mic. Hosted by John Tatum alias “Southport Johnny” and Spence Hayden….. we get great crowds from 7-10pm. If you are looking to jam, we are the spot.

We know that some folks just like relaxing and shooting a game of pool. We offer 3 pool tables, a foosball table as well as cornhole, weather permitting, outside on our patio. And check our website regularly b/c Lighting loves to cook pigs, chicken and oysters often for our crowds.

One of our many offerings are hosting birthday parties, if you are a retiree from NY or CA, you will enjoy our old school bar, most folks think it is from the 50’s!! We have 5 TV’s scattered throughout the bar for watching sports, news or whatever floats your boat..We also host a pool league on Thursday evenings and are hoping to get a dart league going in the near future. Come visit Sara for her signature drinks Thursday thur Saturday, they are the tops, and visit Terry (South Brunswick ’79) during the day.. He’s left DC and come back home after 30 years.
